In the north-west of Turkey in the province of Canakkale archeologists at the excavations of the ancient Greek city of Pariona discovered tombs with children’s toys and mythological sculptures, whose age is estimated at 2000 years.
In the tombs there were not only the remains of the dead. Together with them, toys and ceramic figures of people, mythological characters and animals were placed in the graves. For example, a well-preserved chariot was found.
Researchers note that the ancient inhabitants clearly followed the ritual. In the graves of boys, only male figures are found, girls only women. Some sculptures were also “buried” – they were laid in small wooden coffins.
